Pumpkin Fun with LAPTOTS!

Sophia, Shane, Sebastian, & Emily show off their pumpkins during LAPTOTS on October 26th. The group enjoyed the stories Say Boo and Five Little Pumpkins as well as "growing" a pumpkin on the flannelboard. The children, age 2 and under, also practiced using a glue stick while making jack-o-lanterns out of construction paper.

Registration for the 2008 session of LAPTOTS will begin soon! Stay tuned to the EHFPL Blog for updates.

Preschoolers learn about Patterns and Relationships Everywhere

Ryan and Matt, 3 yr old twins, show off their pig snouts at the EHFPL story hour. Children as young as 2.5 years old have been learning about Patterns and Relationships Everywhere since the start of story hour on Sept. 10, 2007. This is one of six themes in the Mother Goose "What's the Big Idea?" program. The goal is to provide a general, basic understanding of patterns and relationships while reading books, making observations and doing hands-on investigations.
The children have been enthusiastic as they participate in reading Pattern Fish by Trudy Harris. Some popular fairy tales are shared during story hour including The Three Little Pigs, which was followed by a craft where kids can wear a pig snout and role play the story.

Other activities involve singing and sign language, music and movement and musical instruments.
Please visit www.ehfpl.org and submit a request form to be included in the next story hour on Wednesdays, 10:30-11:30 am.
